✉️ A Letter from My Heart to Yours: Why I’ve Been Quiet

Dear ỌJÀ Wellness Family,

This letter has been sitting in my heart for a long time. I wasn’t sure how to begin, or if I even had the strength to share—but I believe in the power of honesty, especially in a space built on healing, roots, and connection.

Over the past few years, life has felt like a whirlwind. On the outside, I’m a mid-30s Nigerian woman juggling a full-time IT job that demands 60 hours a week, a growing herbal tea business that I love deeply, and the role of caregiver to my parents and siblings. I’ve often been the “strong one,” the dependable one, the one who shows up.

But the truth? I’ve been struggling. Quietly. Deeply.

I’ve gained over 60 pounds. I’ve torn both ACLs and gone through multiple surgeries. I’m living with a pre-diabetic diagnosis and fighting fatigue that no amount of caffeine or discipline can fix. I’ve been trying to get pregnant and each month that passes with no progress feels like another weight on my already heavy shoulders.

Some days, I don’t recognize the woman in the mirror. I wake up exhausted, overwhelmed by even the smallest disruptions to my routine. I procrastinate, not out of laziness, but because my mind and body feel stretched to their limit.

And in the middle of all of this, my small business—my heart project—has suffered. Not because I don’t care, but because I simply haven’t had the energy or space to give it the same love I once did. The truth is: my full-time job pays the bills. It supports my family. It keeps the lights on and still remains a priority

So I’ve decided to make a change.

But I’m no longer willing to continue to sacrifice my health and well-being

So I’m making a change. Slowly. Intentionally. With care. 

🌿 I’m learning to rest without guilt.
🌿 I’m choosing nourishing foods and movement that support my healing body.
🌿 I’m building boundaries where there used to be burnout.
🌿 I’m giving myself permission to pause and reset—without apology.

You may have noticed less frequent posts, delayed responses, or moments of silence. Please know this isn’t neglect. It’s survival. It’s self-preservation. And now—it’s self-love.

I share this not for sympathy, but for solidarity. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stretched thin, or like you’re losing yourself while trying to hold everything together—I see you. I am you.

This next chapter of ỌJÀ Wellness is rooted in authenticity and healing, not hustle. You’ll see me share more about my journey, the rituals that help me stay grounded, and the teas that are walking this path with me. This isn’t about giving up—it's about starting again with intention. I'm sharing this with you so you understand where I’ve been and where I’m going, and maybe even feel encouraged to prioritize your own health, too.
