Our Origin Story

Our earliest memory is watching our mother prepare Zobo tea using Roselle Leaf. After preparation, she would chill it in freezer, where we would enjoy it with our school lunches or to cool down on hot afternoons. Sometimes, our mom would sweeten it with sugar, honey or pineapple slices, and add clove, or even ginger to add a bit of a spicy kick to it. It was one of the treats we looked forward to as children.

When we moved to America, we did not find as good Roselle leaf for Zobo as we had gotten at home in Nigeria. So when we would go back to Nigeria for holidays we always made sure to bring some back to the States with us.

In 2021, one of us, Mobolaji moved back to Nigeria and received a gift of some of the freshest Roselle-Zobo she had ever had. She shared it Sope and at one taste, OJA Wellness Foods was born. We are excited to share the wonderful fresh flavor of Roselle Leaf from Nigeria and Republic of Benin with both our communities in Lagos, Nigeria and Tampa, FL. We have started our journey sharing our teas at farmers markets, and now we looking to expand our tea distribution to support other health and wellness focused individuals and businesses in both Nigeria and USA.

Thank you for joining our wellness movement.

Love,

Mobolaji And Sope
